Patrick has prosecuted thousands of patents in an array of fields. He has deep experience in trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and software licensing. He also assists clients in drafting agreements with their employees, contractors, vendors, suppliers, distributors, licensees, licensors, etc. to address any intellectual property concerns in those relationships. Patrick enjoys working with businesses to find the best path for protecting their inventions, distinguishing their brands, and growing their bottom line. He is adept at both a high-level strategy, as well as detailed problem solving. Patrick takes pride in patiently helping clients understand and evaluate their options before moving forward to take the appropriate legal action.
Patrick’s clients cover a broad range of industries, including technology, health care, food and nutraceuticals, fintech, biotech and life science, consumer products, transportation, and construction. He not only counsels’ clients with respect to U.S. laws and protection, but also assists them with their international needs as well.
Patrick was previously a partner in the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology group of McDermott Will & Emery LLP, a large international general practice law firm headquartered in Chicago. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Pritzker Northwestern School of Law.
