You can never ignore an employee’s discrimination complaints. While on its face, the complaint may not look serious or genuine, there are often circumstances that come out in the course of an investigation that make clear why the employee is raising a complaint. While the situation may not be discrimination based on protected class status (i.e. national origin), there may be more to the story that needs to be addressed out so that the situation can be resolved. To ignore the claim entirely puts your business at risk.
